Additional recommended products
Overtrousers or waterproof gaiters for perfectly protecting the lower legs, offering highly effective and comprehensive protection against the rain.
Care products: waterproof spray or wash-in waterproof liquid. To restore the water repellent property of the fabric and optimise the performance of your garment throughout its lifetime.
We measure a fabric's resistance to water pressure, expressed in terms of the height of a water column in mm (based on the ISO 811 standard). The higher the pressure, the more waterproof the fabric. A component with a 2000 mm waterproof rating is therefore resistant to the pressure exerted by a 2000 mm column of water (which roughly corresponds to a 2-hour downpour).
Waterproofing of the garment
This garment has been shower-tested using 60 litres of water/sqm/hour for 2 hours. This test reproduces the average conditions of a rain shower in the mountains.
To find out whether a fabric is breathable, we test its evaporative resistance or RET (based on the ISO 11092 standard). The lower the resistance, the more water vapour generated by the physically active body can escape through the fabric. Hence, the more breathable it is. For example: RET < 9 = extremely breathable fabric / 9<RET<12 = very breathable fabric /12<RET<20 = breathable fabric / RET>20 = little or no breathabilty.
Water repellent property of the component
The water repellent property of a fabric is its ability to allow water to slide off its surface without absorbing it .In this way, the fabric does not soak up water and therefore remains lightweight, breathable and warm. The water-repellent property is obtained by applying a treatment to the outer surface of the fabric. This treatment needs to be repeated throughout the lifetime of the garment (every 3 washes). All of Quechua's ponchos and capes have a water repellent treatment.
A score for comparing the product's environmental impact
The product’s environmental impacts are calculated over its entire life cycle using different indicators. An overall score from A to E is given to help you easily identify the most eco-friendly products by comparing products of the same type (T-shirts, trousers, backpacks, etc.) with each other.
