What type of padding is used to provide warmth?
To help keep you warm, we use recycled wadding insulation (100g/sqm on the arms and 150g/sqm on the body). This synthetic polyester-based wadding traps air, depending on the size of its fibres, to insulate you from the cold.
Which components are added to the padding give it warmth?
In addition to the padding of your jacket, the partially taped seams, the sleeve adjustment and the collar offer even more insulation from the cold and wet, for a greater feeling of warmth.
"Coated" jacket: what are the advantages of this coating?
The coating is a waterproofing material spread over the inner surface of a fabric. It prevents water from seeping into the garment but allows the water vapour produced by the body's physical activity to escape. So you stay dry for greater comfort while practicing your sport.
How is the waterproofing of the jacket measured?
We measure a fabric's resistance to a column of water expressed in mm (based on the ISO 811 standard). The higher the pressure, the more waterproof the fabric. A component with a waterproofing resistance of 3000 mm resists the pressure of 3000 mm of water.
Which of the jacket's features offer protection from bad weather?
The 100 jacket was rigorously developed and assembled to prevent water from entering and reduce wind chill so that you can cope with bad weather (rain, snow, wind, etc.). We have checked the waterproofness of this product in practice during different weather conditions over several days.
What is the point of the water-repellent feature of my jacket?
The water-repellent property of a fabric is its capacity to allow water to run off its surface without seeping in. This jacket features water-repellent components that extend its weather resistance. The fabric is made water-repellent by treating its outer surface. However, this property may deteriorate with use.
How can you reactivate the water-repellency of your jacket?
Remember that water-repellency can be restored. To do this, put the jacket in the dryer on a synthetic programme for 10 to 15 minutes.
You can also use a waterproofing spray (sold in our stores): spray the product evenly over the entire garment, then allow to dry for 10 to 12 hours).
What is a "breathable" jacket?
This is a product that can release the water vapour produced by your body when exercising. To see if a fabric is breathable, its resistance to evaporative heat (RET) is measured in a standardised ISO 11092 test. The lower the RET, the more breathable the fabric. The 100 jacket has an RET of 12. However, it is the technical solutions (zips, vents, mesh) that Wedze uses, which limit the condensation inside the garment and maximise breathability.
What is the fit of the 100 jacket?
Regular Fit. The jacket has sides that fall straight and remain parallel without trying to follow the shape of the chest. The interior volume means this jacket can be worn in combination with a first and second technical layer.
How to dress to stay warm on the slopes?
To make sure you stay warm and dry, we recommend using the 3-technical-layer rule: layer 1 or second skin, to stay dry. Layer 2 or the insulating layer, to keep the heat in. Layer 3 or the protective layer, to protect against bad weather.
A score to compare the environmental footprint of the products
The product's environmental footprint is calculated over its entire lifespan using various indicators. An overall ABCDE rating is given to help you easily identify products with the best environmental performance by comparing and contrasting products of the same type (T-shirts, trousers, backpacks, etc.).
Decathlon actively promotes this environmental rating initiative.
