Technical Information

1
Waterproofing test
The footwear is laboratory and field tested equipped with membrane to ensure optimal waterproofing and breathability. First, the boot is immersed in water while the air pressure inside is increased to check that no bubbles form on the surface. Next, shoes are fitted to a mechanical arm that simulates walking and half immersed in water so we can test that the inside remains perfectly dry.
2
3 levels of waterproofing
During the waterproofing test, we test 3 levels of waterproofing: 2,000 flexes (around 2 hours of walking), 4,000 flexes (around 4 hours of walking) and 8,000 flexes (around 8 hours of walking). Of course, after this test or in use, the shoe regains its original waterproofing once dry.
3
Waterproof rating of the footwear.
The NH300 Mid men’s boot is waterproof for 2000 flexes.
4
Field tests
All our shoes are tested for comfort and use by representative users under conditions identical to those found when in use. Our Missions Tests link the product manager up with people who are not affiliated to Quechua to test, develop and approve the products.
5
Laboratory Testing
Other laboratory tests are also conducted to pass the following: tearing resistance of the eyelets and straps, resistance of adhesives, toxicology, UV resistance, resistance to abrasion of the outsole and upper components, accelerated ageing.
6
What shoe size should I choose?
For hiking, don't hesitate to try a size above your usual size for maximum comfort in descents and to prevent your toes from touching the front of the boot. Advice: before any descent, make sure that your toe nails are clipped and that your laces are tightened so that your feet cannot slide forwards in the boot.
7
Buying tips
Try on both shoes, standing up, with the socks worn for hiking. Try on several models or sizes if necessary. Check two comfort points: the base of the heel and the front part of the foot going down. Avoid all pressure points when trying them on. Don't hesitate to walk around the store. Break in your boots gradually during their first hikes to adapt them to your foot.
