Water resistance of the fabric
The fabric of these over trousers is waterproof to 2,000 mm
This garment has been validated in a shower test under 60L of water/sqm/h for 2h This test reproduces the average conditions of a rain shower. The fabric is water-repellent: it lets water slide over its surface without seeping in. This prevents the fabric from soaking up water and keeps it lightweight and breathable. The water repellent property is achieved by treating the fabric's exterior.
We have taped 100% of the outer seams.
To find out whether a fabric is breathable, we test its total evaporative resistance (RET) based on the ISO 11092 standard. The lower the fabric's resistance, the more water vapour generated by physical activity can escape, and the higher the fabric's breathability.
- RET < 9 = extremely breathable fabric
- 9 < RET < 12 = very breathable fabric
- 12 < RET < 20 = breathable fabric
- RET > 20 = little or no breathability
OUR COMMITMENT TO CONSUME LESS WATER WITH THIS PRODUCT
Textile dyeing requires a lot of water but also produces waste water from the dye baths. To reduce this environmental impact, we chose to use a bulk-dyeing process that incorporates the colour pigments from the yarn manufacturing phase onwards: a dyeing process called "Dope dyeing".This process is used on the blue colour (code 8732807).
WHY CHOOSE RECYCLED POLYESTER?
By recycling plastic bottles or used fabrics to produce our polyester, we reduce the use of petrol-based resources while maintaining the material's quality and performance during your hikes.
We used recycled polyester fibres for the black (code 8382416) colour.
Your health is our top priority
The fabric of this jacket is water repellent: it lets water slide over its surface without seeping in. This prevents the fabric from soaking up water and keeps it lightweight and breathable. The water repellent property is achieved by treating the fabric's exterior. We have started to use a water repellent treatment without perfluorocarbons. Consequently, over the course of 2022, this model will be marketed with a water-repellent treatment that is more respectful of the environment
How to maintain the waterproof property of your over trousers over time?
To maintain a durable water-repellent fabric, we recommend reactivating it regularly.
Do this every three washes (it is important to rinse abundantly) or after a dozen uses in the rain.
You can easily reactivate the water repellent property by warming the fabric:
- in a tumble dryer for 15 minutes (synthetic program) - with a hair dryer at a distance of 20 cm by going back and forth twice
- or two passes with an iron on the delicate setting without the steam function.
Choosing your waterproof overtrousers according to your level of physical effort
During sports activity, the extent to which we perspire depends on the intensity or the duration of the physical effort If the fabric's breathability isn't suited to the type of activity/exercise your perspiration will condense inside jacket. You will feel damp inside this is not rain coming through but perspiration vapour condensing You therefore need to choose over-trousers in line with your activity type. This product is designed for 2-hour hikes at no more than 5km/h.

To protect the lower part of your body as well, and have a very efficient full protective outfit against the wind and rain showers, we recommend men’s Raincut 1/2 zip or full zip jackets. These jackets are also eco-designed (depending on the colours, they are dope dyed to reduce water consumption or made from recycled fibre).
